THE PULSE YOUTH CENTER
INTRODUCTION - In September of 2009, my wife Laura and I opened a youth center called The Pulse (“If you have a Pulse, you have a purpose!”). The Pulse is located in the Spring Park/Emerson Street area (a low income/high crime area).
THE PULSE MISSION: To reach out to young people in hopes of changing lives for the better. Kids from this neighborhood have struggles that most of us simply cannot relate to. The odds are stacked against them because of circumstances beyond their control. For some, the problem began long before their parents were even born, but in any case, the average kid in this neighborhood doesn’t stand much chance of getting through high school, much less growing into a productive member of society, unless they get some help.
THE PULSE’S PROGRAMS: Designed to bring these kids closer to understanding God’s plan for their lives and how they, even while they are young, can make a difference in their family, their neighborhood, and their school. Our hope is that when they understand that they have a calling on their lives, a PURPOSE, they will find the motivation from within to push through the obstacles between them and their dreams and determine to finish strong.
